Went for a walk with James over to the school I'll be teaching at. It's hot out but actually not TOO hot, not as bad as I expected anyway.
Here's a few pics of the view from Jabal Webdeh (James' neighborhood) looking out at Jabal Amman (the neighborhood where my school is)

^^ To get over to the school you walk all the way down here, cross the street and up a giant staircase that puts you out at that big blackish building on the left (1st circle). And of course with it being Ramadan we didn't bring any water. That's where I really noticed the heat.
This view gave me a much better idea of the size of this city (it's big).
Nice little courtyard at the school.
Looking back across at Jabal Webdeh. The flag is the Raghadan flagpole, one of the tallest in the world (THE tallest depending on who you ask).
Jabal Al Qu'la
There are some Roman ruins to the right but I didn't get a good picture.
We went to a couple shops. I got some (expensive) socks. And we went to a trendy little westernized cafe for iced coffee, one of the only places that was open due to Ramadan. It quickly became obvious that I need to get a phone because one thing is certain, I am going to get lost here.
Jimminy Christmas! Wow! I am so excited by your story. Will! (I am an extrovert, you know.) Your photos remind me of Greece --- lots of white pebbles strewn across the landscape and the sense that you don't know where you are but you are there. Has the luggage arrived? It doesn't matter. Let us know what you need and where you are. We are the Yas... we can make it right. Love, Joni
